History
Universal Studios Florida opened on June 7, 1990, designed to work as both a theme park and a production studio, and some of its soundstages remained active. The resort's first major expansion came in 1999 with a second theme park, Islands of Adventure, and the CityWalk entertainment and retail district. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened at Islands of Adventure on June 18, 2010, and reached Universal Studios Florida with Diagon Alley on July 8, 2014; the Hogwarts Express links the two lands. Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025, a few miles south of the existing resort. Volcano Bay, the water park, opened on May 25, 2017, around a 200-foot volcano called Krakatau.
