Europa-Park Resort
Europa-Park opened on 12 July 1975 in Rust, Baden-Württemberg, and is still owned by the Mack family. The park covers about 95 hectares; its indoor water world Rulantica opened beside it on 28 November 2019, and six hotels and a campsite make it a resort. History
Franz Mack and his son Roland were inspired to open the park, and the Mack family owns both Europa-Park and Mack Rides, the ride maker based in Waldkirch that traces its roots to 1780 and built many of the park's attractions, including roller coasters. Of the park's themed areas, 18 are named after European countries or regions. It was the third most visited theme park in Europe, after Disneyland Paris and Efteling, in the AECOM Theme Index for 2020. Its water park Rulantica has a Scandinavian theme throughout. Silver Star, a 73-metre hypercoaster that opened in 2002, is one of the park's main attractions.
